Chinese Scholars Visit Forest Park Campus Dr. Yan Zheng and Professor Songrong Jiang teachers at Hunan Normal University (HNU) in China have been teaching as part of a teacher exchange with St. Louis Community College. The teachers have been in St. Louis for the past five months and have taught classes in the Art Department at Forest Park Community College. The teachers have also been to Florrisant Valley, Meramec Community College and the Cosand Center to give speeches about China, it's art history and China's culture. While in St. Louis, the two have become very adept at riding St. Louis' light rail system Metrolink and also getting around town via the Bi-State busses. They are living in the Central West End area of St. Louis city. Professor Jiang taught three art classes including Chinese painting, stamp/seal making and drawing. Dr. Yan Zheng came to Forest Park as a visiting scholar studying the American culture and our tourism classes. Dr. Zheng also is an ambassador at Hunun Normal University and will arrange future exchange programs for faculty and students between HNU and St. Louis Community College. While the two teachers are here in St. Louis, Forest Park College's Margaret Johnson is in China teaching mathematics and American culture. |
