My professor said my class
is on Blackboard. What does this mean?
Blackboard (Bb) is a web based tool for teaching and learning. Think of
it as a container that holds all the essential information you need to
complete a class. You can do assignments, send email, participate in an
online discussion and even take tests as a student enrolled in a class
that uses Blackboard. Some classes are offered completely on-line, while
others use Bb as a supplement for on-campus activities.
How do I log-in to Blackboard?
Bb can be accessed from anywhere by using a Mac or a PC with internet
access. The web address is
Your instructor must have enrolled you in a Bb course in order for you
to gain access.
What is my username
Unless your instructor tells you otherwise,
your username is your Student ID Number without dashes and your initial
password is the word password. You should change your password as soon
as you log in.
How do I change my
1) Click the “My Institution” tab to view that
2) Click on “Personal Information” in the “Tools” list on the left side
of the page.
3) Click on “Change Password”.
4) Enter the same new password in each of the password fields.
5) Click the “Submit” button.
Note the following:
- Use only alphanumeric characters (i.e.
no special characters like # and %).
- Dashes are acceptable.
- Don't use any spaces.
- Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Caps lock should be off.
I forgot my password.
What do I do?
Only your instructor can reset your password. Contact your instructor
to have your password reset.
