Castella Henderson.Castella Henderson is Director of Institutional Development at SLCC, where she is responsible for providing district-wide leadership to secure external funding to support institutional missions, strategic planning goals, and directions. Castella received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Illinois. She began her career with the State of Illinois, where she was Community Planner and Director of the Work-Study Program. Castella has worked for SLCC since 1982, and has served on several district-wide and campus committees, including the Corporate Sponsorship Committee.

In 1988, she was selected to participate in the Resource Development Specialist Training Program sponsored by the Council for Resource Development (CRD). As a result of her work, SLCC was nationally recognized as a model campus for resource development in 1989. From 1995 to 1996, she served as President of the CRD. In 1990, Castella was selected for the national Kellogg Leadership Fellows Program. In 1996, she participated in the Leaders Program sponsored by the National Institute for Leadership Development (NILD).

In addition to AAWCC-St. Louis, Castella is affiliated with many local, state, and national organizations such as the National Society of Fund Raising Executives, the Missouri Association of Community and Junior Colleges, and the National Council on Black American Affairs.
