Service
Learning extends student achievement beyond the classroom and
into the community. It provides students the opportunities to
bring newly acquired skills and knowledge into practical, relevant
situations. Service Learning projects also foster the development
of a sense of responsibility and caring for others on and off
campus.
Service
Learning differs from volunteerism and community service in
that it ties classroom objectives and service goals in a direct,
measurable manner. It is a process, a form of experiential learning
that includes expected outcomes which are tied directly to the
learning goals of the class.
