General Information

Mathematics Educators of Greater St. Louis (MEGSL) join

St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley

in presenting the 31^st Annual Junior High Excellence in Mathematics Contest

Saturday March 21, 2009 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley

The contest will consist of 40 multiple choice questions with different exams for each grade level.

There will be two divisions for each grade level – sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grades.

You may bring a maximum of ten students per grade level.

Individual awards will be given to the top ten students from each grade level in each division.

A team will consist of the top four scorers from each category.

Estimation Golf Information

We will also be holding the 11th Annual Estimation Golf Tournament Competition

• Each school may register one three-student team per grade level. Register promptly. The tournament is limited to the first 20 teams per grade level. If you are not among the first 20 teams you will be notified promptly. A registration form for Estimation Golf will be enclosed with the registration form for the Excellence in Mathematics Contest.
• Preliminary Round – 20 teams per grade level compete; three problems  per team.
• Final Round – Top three teams at each grade level compete in gym; three problems per team.
• All questions involve estimation – No calculators, paper, or pencil allowed.

Preregistration & Registration & Golf Forms

If you wish to participate in the Excellence in Mathematics Contest and/or the Estimation Golf Tournament, complete and return a pre-registration form and return it by December 15^th.

If you did not receive a pre-registration form, but you would like to participate in the Excellence in Mathematics Contest and/or the Estimation Golf Tournament, complete and return a pre-registration form, registration form, & estimation golf form and return them by February 25^th. The Preregistration, Registration, & Estimation Golf forms are linked below.

No Registration forms will be accepted after March 5^th.
