Creative and technology work by Michael Burks spans nearly four decades. With an M.A. in Theatre from the University of Illinois--Urbana-Champaign and the Ph.D. in Media Arts from the University of Kansas, Dr. Burks worked as a professor, Web and Academic Technologies ITS staff member and a consultant to higher education for over 25 years.
Burks’ photography (both traditional and digital) has appeared in numerous competitive and invitational exhibits from New York to Los Angeles, in Great Britain and Belez, and in national publications, including Architectural Digest and Popular Photography. He combined his love for theatre and photography through his education and work in video and film. He participated in the Director’s Guild of America’s Educators Workshop, and his films and videos have appeared on local cable and Public Broadcasting channels.
In the business world, Dr. Burks managed interactive Web site creation and development projects for higher education. His clients included Princeton University, the College of William and Marry and Windsor University.
Dr. Burks joined St. Louis Community College in June, 2010, as the Manager of the Digital Arts and Technology Alliance (DATA).
