Ron W. Thomas was born in Indiana. After serving in the Navy in the late 50's Ron attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA-1964); Indiana University in Bloomington MA-1966); and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (MFA-1975).
Teaching painting and drawing full-time at St. Louis Community Collage @ Meramec since 1966 enriched Rons' skills as an artist. He subsequently won the National Endowment for the Arts, Fellowship for Excellence in Drawing award; was given a solo exhibition at the St.Louis Art Museum entitled "Ron Thomas-Currents IV"; and had 32 works published by the University Press- "It's Good To Tell You: French Folktales from Missouri". Professor Thomas has had a 40 year record of solo and group gallery exhibitions. His recent solo show at the Foundrt Art Centre in St Charles, Mo. was entitled "50 New Oil Paintings" a departure from years of working in acrylics.
