Duties encompassed developing new product, selecting assortment, negotiating discounts and exclusives, analyzing catalogue results, determining relisted products, product training at the call center, assuring excellent customer service, and procuring photography and quality assurance samples. Vendor agreements, product fact sheets, obtaining proof of insurance, working with the copywriter, and meeting all deadlines were essential.

$20.0 million responsibility included buying moderate sportswear and separates for 42 stores including Famous Barr, L.S. Ayres, and the Jones Stores. Member of the May Merchandising Corporate Steering Committee, which determined the direction and assortment of the area for all seven of the May Department Stores divisions. Responsibilities included achieving sales, gross profit, inventory control, automatic replenishment, advertising, merchandise presentation and floor plans, and managing and developing two person support staff. Executed mergers with ten L.S. Ayres stores and nine Mercantile stores.

May Department Stores, Inc. St. Louis, MO $16.0 million responsibility included buying sheets, comforters, quilts, window treatments, and accessories for all stores in the tri-state region. Member of the May Merchandising Steering committee. Maintained sales volume rank within the corporation of first through third for eight years.
