As you all are aware, the coronavirus pandemic has presented significant challenges to the business operations of every organization in the U.S. and abroad. Given the unprecedented nature of the situation and projected cuts to the College’s operating budget, some difficult decisions will need to be made over the next few months. While the College has been committed to keeping employees whole through May 15, due to many factors, the College cannot continue to pay all part-time employees who are unable to perform their daily work responsibilities after May 15, 2020. |
Currently, there are several employees essential to business operations who are safely working on our campuses. In addition, some employees will safely return to work onsite when the St. Louis City and County stay-at-home orders are removed, while some employees will continue to work remotely until instructed by their immediate supervisor to return. The Incident Response Team and the Employee and Student Engagement Committees are working on plans to safely and gradually bring students and employees back onsite. |
Simultaneously, we have deployed a COVID-19 Budget Response Team to assist with making recommendations to the chancellor and the Board of Trustees as budget and enrollment information unfolds over the next few months. The team is composed of leadership team members, staff and College senate representatives. Additional constituencies will be engaged with the Budget Response Team as needed. |

The College has decided to reduce hiring new and replacement positions until the continuously changing circumstances improve and we have a better understanding of the overall impact on the College’s operating budget. |
Effectively immediately, vacant positions will no longer be filled, except for those positions identified as critical to the continued operations of the College. Hiring managers looking to have a position identified as critical must complete a Hiring Exception Request form and submit the form to the appropriate leadership team member for review. |
