In May of 2000, on behalf of Chancellor Shannon, Dean Ethel Sawyer went to China with the Art Study in China group to sign the official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the China Exchange and the contracts for the three exchange faculty members.
About five hundred students and faculty attended the formal ceremony for the signing of the MOU. Dean Sawyer visited the colleges of Tourism, Foreign Languages, Arts, and Sciences.
