The Internet contains a wealth of information on a variety of subjects. The amount of information can be overwhelming. In addition, anyone can publish on the Internet, so you must assess the validity of the information.
How do you know when to use the Internet? If you need current information or the topic is unusual, the Internet is a good resource. Otherwise, print resources like books, encyclopedias, and journals are best.
Pretend you are a certified laboratory professional:
Visit either the ASM or ASCP web site and select a professional meeting or workshop
to attend.
Research the cost of attending the meeting or workshop. (i.e. Registration, airfare,
getting around in the city, hotel, and food.)
Research the weather, what to see, and any advisories for the destination city. Locate
a map of the city.

Submit a travel request outlining projected cost of attendance at the meeting.
