How Do You Annotate Text?

Mark up the text while you are reading with a pencil, pen, or highlighter.

Use sticky notes to annotate if you cannot make marks in the text

Why Should You Annotate?

Marking up the text allows you to see the words and then mark them, giving some words and phrases more importance than others.

The more senses you use (sight to read, sound to read out loud, touch to annotate) when interacting with the text, the more your learning improves.

Annotating the text will help you remember which parts of the text to reflect on when preparing to summarize.
