            Health & Personal Hygiene

Text: Essential Concepts for Healthy Living

Goals and Objectives:
1.  Understand the inter-relatedness of the body systems.
2.  Describe the nature of infectious and noninfectious diseases including the recovery process.
3.  Describe the roll of nutrition, fitness, sexuality, drugs, stress and wellness to one's overall
     quality of health.
4.  Make well informed decisions concerning sources of health information.

Attendance Policy:  attendance of regularly scheduled classes is not mandatory.  However, attendance will be taken and recorded.  Attendance at exams is mandatory.

Grading Policy:  Grades will be assigned as follows:

    Test #1                        150 points                                    A=900-1000 points
    Test #2                        150 points                                    B=800-  899 points
    Test #3                        150 Points                                   C=700-  799 points
    Final Project                200 points                                    D=600-  699 points
    20 writing assignments  200 points                                    F=    0-  599 points
    10 class assignments    150 points
            Total                  1000 points

Note: According to St. Louis Community College policy, only the students can withdraw from a course.  The instructor cannot withdraw a student for excessive absence.  The instructor will award whatever grade is earned, affected negatively by absence from class.

Other:  Anyone with special needs to encouraged to see the instructor at his/her earliest convenience.
