Fragment of a moldmade, slipper lamp found in square 75, locus 06 during the 1998 field season (pottery registration number 6740). Lamp black discolors the wick hole area of the lamp. The exterior color is pinkish white (7.5YR8/2) while the core and interior are very pale brown (10YR8/4). Length = 115.1 mm, width = 93.1 mm, height = 40.4, and wall thickness averages 5 mm. This specimen weights 184.86 grams. The unbroken lamp must have been close to 130 cm in length.



Moldmade, slipper lamp found in square 83, locus 04.

Fragment of a moldmade, slipper lamp found in square 83, locus 10 during the 1998 field season (pottery registration number 7272). The lamp was discovered 98 centimeters below the surface, 99 cm north and 220 cm east of the southwest corner of the excavation unit. The exterior color is reddish yellow (5YR7/6) while the core and interior are light red (10R6/8 to 2.5YR6/6). Length = 107.4 mm, width = 46.3 mm, height = 38.0, and wall thickness averages 5 mm. The base of the lamp of decorated with a design that can be interpreted several ways. It most closely resembles a tree though it could also stand for a leaf or a 5 branch candlestick.


Fragment of a moldmade, slipper lamp found in Square 83, Locus 10 during the 1998 field season (pottery registration number 8495). The exterior color is 10YR7/3 (very pale brown), the interior color is 10YR5/4 (yellowish brown), and core is 10YR6/1 (gray). Estimated length = 8.5 cm, estimated width = 6.0 cm, height = 40.5 cm, and average wall thickness = 5 mm. The base is decorated.
