Peterson Site Hammerstones
Several examples of hammerstones in the surface
collection from the Peterson site.
Largest hammerstone found at the Peterson Site. Light Yellowish Brown (10YR6/4) quartzite.
Length = 107.5 mm. Width = 66.9 mm. Thickness = 58.3 mm. Weight = 610 gram. Discovered May 2009.

Very Pale Brown (10YR8/4) quartzite hammerstone. Length 82.1 mm, width = 82.1 mm, thickness 47.3 mm, and weight = approximately 400 grams.

Milk Quartz hammerstone.
Length = 54.6 mm. Width = 42.4 mm. Thickness = 30.5 mm. Weight = 99.7 gram.

Banded white quartzite hammerstone. Length = 39.7 mm, width = 37.6 mm, thickness = 27.3 mm, and
weight = 58.7 grams.

Gray Quartzite hammerstone. Length = 58.1 mm, width = 40.5 mm, thickness = 24.6 mm, and weight = 84.0 grams
