Prospect Spring (23GR711)

The excavation at Prospect Spring recovered several projectile points dating to the Late Archaic Period (3000 - 1000 BC).


Afton point from Test Unit 8, debris bag 14. Piece plot 5; Level 6 (50 to 60 cm below the surface). Length = 68.4 mm, width = 43.1 mm, thickness = 8.0 mm and weight = 19.1 grams.



Smith Basal Notched from Test Unit 8, debris bag 19. Piece plot 7; Level 7 (60 to 70 cm below the surface). Length = 56.1 mm, width = 53.9 mm, thickness = 9.2 mm and weight = 25.2 grams.



Etley point from Test Unit 4, debris bag 27. Piece plot 6; Level 9 (80 to 90 cm below the surface). Length = 83.5 mm, width = 35.5 mm, thickness = 9.0 mm, weight = 24.0 grams.



Smith basal notched from Test Unit 8, debris bag 23. Piece plot 8; Level 8 (70 TO 80 cm below the surface). Length = 69.0 mm, width = 50.0 mm, thickness = 13.4 mm, and weight = 38.4 grams.



Table Rock point from Test Unit 8, debris bag 3. Piece plot 3; 30 cm below the surface. Length = 42.6 mm, width = 20.0 mm, thickness = 6.1 mm and weight = 4.9 grams.



Smith Basal Notched base from Test Unit 18, debris bag 21. Piece plot 9 (80 to 90 cm below the surface); elevation 96 cm below surface. Length = 45.1 mm, width = 43.4 mm, thickness = 9.3 mm and weight = 19.3 grams.



White River side notched from Test Unit 5, debris bag 20. Piece plot 8; Level 7 (60 to 70 cm below surface). Length 48.4 mm, width = 28.1 mm, thickness = 6.8 mm and weight = 9.6 grams.
