The East Profile of the massive trench through the center of Tell el-Retaba was made by one archaeologist using a metric tape, stadia rod, Brunton compass, line level, and string. Many of these loci could easily be subdivided, but time did not allow for more than a "sketch" profile. This was rescue archaeology. Time and money did not allow for the mapping of the entire trench. The profile starts near the center of the site and extends to the South edge of the tell.
