Boone's Lick State Historic Site (23HD112)

This important historic archaeological site is situated in a State park in Howard County, Missouri. The saline water was processed at the site by Native Americans before the arrival of the pioneers. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 30, 1969.

Granite monument erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to commemorate the location of Boone's Salt Lick. Modern signage at the site argues that the discovery of the natural salt springs was not made by Daniel Boone.
