Several borders decorated with petroglyphs are on display in the Great North Museum at Newcastle University.

Cartington stone - a decorated boulder on display in the Great North Museum at Newcastle University. It was probaby carved in the Neolithic Period, then reused in the Bronze Age as a cover for a cist burial.

Ouston stone - a decorated boulder on display in the Great North Museum at Newcastle University. Probably carved during the Neolithic Period.

Ryton stone - a decorated boulder on display in the Great North Museum at Newcastle University. Probably carved in the Neolithic Period.

West Lilbourn stone - a decorated boulder on display in the Great North Museum at Newcastle University. The precision of the lines suggests a metal tool carving during the Bronze Age (2500 - 800 BC).

Doddington stone - a decorated boulder on display in the Great North Museum at Newcastle University. The boulder was used as a cist grave cover and the decorated pattern was facing down (so it was only visible to the dead).
