Archaeologists from the Oriental Institute (University of Chicago) excavated at Istakhr in Iran, an Islamic city about five miles north of Persepolis. Cobalt-Blue Design on Creamy Light White background Calligraphic style glazeware bowl dating to the 10th century. Of the 1,050 coins excavated from four ten-meter squares in the center of the mound, 900 were Islamic coins (sixth to ninth centuries AD).
