
Tiraz textile fragment
from Fustat, Egypt. Possibly manufactured in Iraq or Iran
(ca. AD 900 to 930). The weft is cotton, the warp is silk and the embroidery is in
red silk. Two Arabic inscriptions in Kufic script are present.
The large central inscription and a smaller inscription on the left edge.
