Activities will include classes and demonstrations of medieval fighting, costuming, weaving, dying, woodworking, the bardic arts, and other diverse arts and sciences.

A lunch buffet will be provided and here are many fast food places nearby.

This course is designed to teach some methods to practice medieval and Renaissance music.  Some ability to read music is preferable, but not necessary.  Methods will work with both instrumental and vocal music; some topics to be covered include rhythm, notes, fragmentation, repetition, and polyphony.  Students may bring music samples and/or instruments if they desire individualized advice.

Addresses the costume of nobles living in Germany during the late fifteenth century as illustrated by contemporary art, particular the Housebook of Castle Wolfegg and various other engravings and manuscript illuminations.  The emphasis will be on female costume, but male costume will be discussed.  Construction will be discussed, and further research recommended in detail for those who wish to explore the subject further.

Carving Basic Soapstone Molds for Pewter Casting

This is a lecture class giving instruction as to the creation of basic soapstone molds to cast simple pewter objects.  

The class will cover materials, tools, design, layout, and carving techniques necessary to cast sitems such as pilgrimage badges, award medalions, coins and tokens.

This class should be early in the day (first or second s ession) if the Practical workshop is being held.

Soapstone Molds for Pewter Casting - Workshop

This open workshop is designed to allow students to apply the knowledge gained in the Carving Basic Soapstone Molds for Pewter Casting Class. Students will be provided with a block of soapstone, and tools will be available so that each student may carve their own mold. These molds will be suitable to cast objects such as pilgrimage badges, award medalions, coins or tokens which are essentially "flat". If time allows students will be able to try casting their molds so they my take home a few finished peices.  Students wishing to take other classes are welcome to come and go over the course of the day.
