PowerPoint presentation, Designing a New User-Centric College Public Website

Designing a New User-Centric College Public Website
St. Louis Community College replaced its public website with a new site, integrating all of the campus locations and providing a "user-centric" experience targeting many types of visitors and their individual needs. The user-experiences were identified along with new content, navigation, site organization, image and branding, and the "look and feel" required to successfully provide a sense of "uniqueness" and "connection" with each visitor. This session will benefit other institutions interested in re-engineering or re-focusing their public website, and discusses committees and personnel, goals, decisions, branding, best practices, and the web content management system and processes the College deployed. Originally presented at the League for Innovation CIT 2007. Updated and presented at MOREnet Helix 2008.

Intranet Collaboration Using Microsoft SharePoint
Continuous improvement is an essential ingredient in the development and enhancement of self-service intranet solutions for information access, document and knowledge management, effective organizational communications, deployment of collaborative electronic workspaces, support of collaborative activities and workflows, transition to electronic forms and presentation of leadership-friendly key performance indicators. St. Louis Community College is re-engineering its intranet infrastructure (which used a combination of traditional Web and SharePoint Portal technology) based on lessons learned, industry best practices and evolving organizational, faculty and staff needs. The new design leverages the expanded capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Office Forms Server 2007. The presenters will share best practices in design and deployment, specific performance-improvement goals, technical and process development decisions, considerations for the various types of users and the kinds of shared workspaces and collaboration frameworks to be implemented. Presented at Helix 2007.
