Xi Lambda Member Dies
Recent Xi Lambda alumnus and former VP of Scholarship Michael Mwesigwa
past away on October 8, 2006 from complications of a skin graph surgery.
He had valiantly fought for two months, but the damage to his body was
too extensive.
Michael was working in the basement of his home on Friday, August 11th,when the toxic fumes from industrial-strength glue ignited and caused several explosions. He managed to make his way upstairs to save his two young boys, ages two and four. For this, Michael is forever a hero for having saved his children from certain death.
Xi Lambda still mourns over the loss of such a wonderfully thoughtful,
generous, and inviting human being. Michael served his chapter as the
Membership Officer and the Vice President of Scholarship. Our thoughts
and prayers are with his wife Nicole, his two surviving sons, and his
family.
Xi Lambda would like to thank all those that participated in our blood
drive in Michael’s honor. Even in is death, he takes care of others.
The chapter is donating and planting a tree on the Meramec Campus in his
honor during Earth Days on campus in April. All those who knew and loved Michael, are invited and encouraged to attend.
