The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives dramatically. That’s why at St. Louis Community College, we want to make sure we communicate with you often to provide the latest information related to aspects of the pandemic that directly affects your lives. We are empathetic to the sudden challenges that this time represents for all of our students, faculty and staff. We would like to take this opportunity to share an update on emergency funds for students. |
Recently, the federal government passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. St. Louis Community College was allocated $4,363,632 in CARES Act funds to provide emergency support to students who qualify for Title IV funds under the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965. |
Here’s how the College will allocate the funds to help currently enrolled students: |
• |
Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of zero dollars will be split into two groups: (1) Students who are enrolled at least half-time will receive $1,000; (2) Students who are enrolled less than half-time will receive $500.
• |
Students with an EFC above zero that makes them eligible for Pell grants will receive $500.
The remaining funds will be used as emergency funds for students who could be eligible to participate in programs under the HEA but who do not currently have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. Those students will need to complete a scholarship application. The emergency awards will range from $500 to $1,000 for students who are essential workers and other requests such as housing, daycare, food, medical or utilities. |

The CARES Act funds will provide some much-needed relief to our STLCC students. We understand that students are dealing with some difficulties right now and hope these funds help them stay on their educational path. |
We encourage you to stay safe, be healthy and seek help from us or other local resources if you need assistance. |
